It is my honour to represent you and the NSW Greens in the Senate as a fearless voice fighting for environmental and climate justice, public education and housing, women, LGBTQIA+ rights, anti-racism, global justice and animal welfare.
It’s been heart-warming and energising to campaign with members and communities to grow our movement, build our vote across the state and country, win a second Senate seat in NSW and take balance-of-power in Parliament.
Every moment standing together on picket lines, at rallies, in forests, in community meetings and through countless conversations has been critical to that success.
Our collective effort and dedication are building the momentum needed to deliver environmental, social and racial justice.
The challenges we face demand an even bolder Greens movement led by people with a track record of taking on the powerful forces fuelling inequality and holding us back.
As your NSW Greens Senator I remain staunchly committed to our grassroots and left politics.
As Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens, I proudly represent NSW in the leadership team, and work closely with my colleagues and members around the country.
As a brown, Muslim, migrant, feminist woman, I challenge the stale image of Australian political leadership to bring a different perspective to our parliament and party room.
Greens pressure has forced the disappointing Labor government to answer to people and planet instead of their corporate donors.
Using our power in the Senate, we have been the true opposition, forcing the government to put $3 billion into social housing, impose a cap on carbon pollution and establish environmental protections from climate-wrecking fracking.
From the rental crisis and spiralling student debt to justice for Palestine and anti-racism, our campaigns have put issues the old parties would rather ignore onto frontpages.
The years to come are crucial.
Fossil fuel corporations continue to make obscene profits destroying our future. People are struggling to stay afloat in a cost of living crisis. The Albanese government is responding to racism-fuelled global conflict with militarism and billions wasted on nuclear submarines. Renters and young people are locked out of homes. Political apathy risks sidelining First Nations justice.
I want us to use our momentum to put more Greens in parliament, keep Dutton’s Liberals out of government and shake up Labor to make environmental and economic justice a reality.
I will use all my energy, fire and experience to work alongside you, build the Greens vote across diverse communities and help us breakthrough in seats like Richmond and Sydney.
Together we’ve achieved so much, but I’m more determined than ever to fight for a better future for us all. That’s why I’m asking for your support to continue my changemaking work in the Senate.
