Kath Angus

Candidate for Coorparoo

Hey I’m Kath and I’m excited to be your Greens candidate for the Coorparoo Ward.

I have been a midwife for more than 5 years, working in the public health system. Prior to my career as a midwife, I worked in early childhood education and care, in a variety of settings across three states.

I've also volunteered in community groups, including the Australian Breastfeeding Association, the Stones Corner Kindy Committee, the East Brisbane State School P&C (Parents and Citizens) and local park runs. In these roles, I've spent time with local families, heard their concerns and developed a keen awareness of all the aspects of city planning that affect our community.

Right now, the State Government and Brisbane City Council are planning to knock down our beautiful local public school - East Brisbane State School - as well as Raymond Park for the Olympics. This is so much damage and unnecessary cost for a short sporting event.

It’s never been more clear that our community deserves better.

For years, Brisbane City Council has made decisions that reduce our greenspace and community areas, made our streets more congested and dangerous, and put power into the hands of big developers.

With the Greens at a Federal level in our area we can continue our movement for positive change in our community by electing a Greens Councillor. I will fight for you and our community and prioritise our needs over wealthy property developers.

Join me and let's make it possible in 2024.
