Benjamin Tiley

Candidate for Townsville Division 9

Nice to meet you! My name’s Ben and I’m proud to be your Greens candidate in Townsville for Division 9 this election.

I am 19 years old, born in Darwin, and I’ve lived in Townsville since 2011. Growing up here is a unique experience and one that I cherish. I have many happy memories of the people, nature and community that makes our city the best in Queensland.

I’m running to be your Division 9 Councillor because it’s time to breathe some fresh air into our politics. Our community needs a genuine representative working with you to find our way forward. I want to see us thrive.

Council is more than roads, rates and rubbish. So much more can be done on a local level to provide for all of us.

Our suburbs need more
sustainable and affordable housing for our growing population along with public spaces that everyone can enjoy safely and openly. We must expand and improve our public transport, giving everyone the freedom to travel in their own city. Let’s act on the climate crisis with more green space and active transport. Let’s build real participatory democracy to give everyone a voice on the things that affect us.

We want to make our city the best it can be. This election, we have an opportunity to see action on what matters.

While corporate donors influence the major parties, as your Councillor I’d be beholden only to our community, and will always fight for you. I’m so excited to get to work, learning about your concerns and how I can best represent you

Together we can work for a future built for all of us.
