Hi, I’m Bel and I’m excited to be your candidate for Wynnum Manly in the 2024 Council elections. 

I’ve lived in Wynnum since 2009, when my partner of almost 20 years and I bought our first home. I have a beautiful 28 year old son and an adorable, lazy beagle. Since 2015 I have been running Little Gnome bookshop, in Wynnum.

I'm running for Council to represent you and your needs. I'll listen to you and your concerns. I'll give a voice to the Bayside and create a community where real, grassroots engagement happens.

I want to see the Bayside grow. Research shows that development and progress can successfully co-exist with a social and environmental conscience at the forefront of design.

As your Councillor, I'll ensure that all new buildings have plenty of street level greenery and are energy efficient, with the right infrastructure in place to welcome extra people living in the area and using the roads and pathways.

A rejuvenation of our Community Centre is also a priority for me. It’s an under-utilised area that has been forgotten by our current Council.

We need better serviced bus routes and improved connected bikeways for our kids to get to school and for those who work outside of the Bayside area. We need a focus on fixing problems like the roundabout at Whites, Preston and Manly Road including improving footpaths and installing safety rails at the intersection as well as focusing on parks, footpaths and bikeways in Wynnum West and Manly West. No more band-aid solutions. We need real action on our community's concerns.
